Edward S. Curtis Photograph Reprints by Jean-Antony du Lac – Set of 3 – The Curtis Project

 

A set of three vintage Edward S. Curtis images.  The images have been photographically reprinted by Jean-Antony du Lac from negatives derived from the copperplate gravures.  The reprints are from “The Curtis Project” of the 1970’s and 1980’s.  The images are unframed, but each is mounted in a brown matte board and backed with plain cardboard.

 

IMAGE A: “A Heavy Load: Sioux”

This print shows a Native American woman carrying a load of wood in the snow.  Dated 1898, this image was reprinted in 1982 by Jean-Antony du Lac.

 

The visible image measures: 13” wide x 17-5/8” high.

The brown matte board measures: 18” wide x 24” high.

Signed in pencil, lower right: “Printed by Jean-Antony du Lac 1982”

 

This print is in every good condition.  The matte board has some light scuff marks and two dented corners, (please see photos.)

 

IMAGE B: “The Blanket Weaver: Navajo”

This print shows a Native American woman weaving a blanket on a loom in the shade of an old tree.  Desert canyon walls are in the background.  Dated 1899, this image was reprinted in 1982 by Jean-Antony du Lac.

 

The visible image measures: 18-1/8” wide x 13-3/8” high.

The brown matte board measures: 23-7/8” wide x 18” high.

This print is in good condition with minor scrapes and spots on the matte board, (please see photos.)

 

IMAGE C: “A Piegan Encampment”

This print shows a Native American Tee Pee camp on a wide plain with a mountain range in the distance.  Dated 1901, this image was reprinted in 1981 by Jean-Antony du Lac.

 

The visible image measures: 18-3/16” wide x 13-1/2” high.

The brown matte board measures: 23-7/8” wide x 18” high.

This print is in good condition.  The matte board has moderate scuff marks and edge wear, (please see photos.)
