Antique Victorian 9ct Gold and Purple Amethyst Spinning Fob Pendant Necklace

A beautiful antique Victorian 9ct Gold Necklace, featuring a rich natural purple Amethyst gemstone set within an ornate spinning fob pendant.

The pendant has a wonderfully decorative design, with a warm yellow gold frame, elegant scrollwork detail to the top and a lovely openwork reverse. The oval cabochon Amethyst has a deep purple tone, catching the light beautifully with flashes of violet and wine-red colour.

The pendant is designed as a spinning fob, allowing the gemstone to turn within the frame — a charming and tactile detail often seen in antique jewellery. It is suspended from a fine 9ct rose gold cable chain, finished with a traditional T-Bar toggle clasp which adds further period charm.

The spinning fob pendant measures 1.9cm x 2cm, not including the bail ring.

The necklace weighs 4.3g in total.

The chain is stamped ‘9c’ on the T-Bar.

The pendant is not stamped, but both the chain and pendant fully test as 9ct Gold.

The Amethyst has been tested and is a natural earth mined gemstone.

The necklace is in very good antique condition as shown, with light age-related surface wear in keeping with antique jewellery. Please note: the chain has a very small historical repair near the T-Bar clasp, where one tiny link has been replaced. The repair is neat and secure, and only visible under close inspection. A close-up photograph has been included to show this clearly.
