All handmade from goose and swan quills collected from Wotton House Lakes in Buckinghamshire.  Collected in late spring when the geese and swans moult their feathers. No Swans or Geese where harmed in the making of these floats.

Wotton House Lakes where made infamous by Fred J Taylor and his brother’s in the 60’s and 70’s for their large catches of tench and making famous the “lift method” using quill floats. I’m still catching tench on the lift method using these floats from my boat, float used is size dependant on wind conditions.

Each float is handmade by myself and goes through 14 different processes to get to the end result as you see them in the picture.  Each quill float is finished with three coats of yatch varnish for a durable waterproof result.

The hi glow yellow tip can clearly be seen in low light conditions(I also offer a red tipped set if preferred - see my other items). Order both sets and be covered for bright or overcast days, don’t miss that bite.

9” 7” 6” 5” and 4” Standard Goose Quill for general float work

6” 5” and 4” Chubber floats for river trotting

7” Reverse Stillwater float

I have been collecting quills from Wotton and making and selling on eBay these traditional quill floats now for 10 years.  I must have sold a couple of thousand by now. So quality and finish guaranteed.
