  • Beschreibung: Innerhalb einer schmalen rechteckigen Einfassung erscheint in waldiger Umgebung ein drachenartiges Fabelwesen mit geöffnetem Maul, kräftigen Tatzen, geschupptem Leib, Fledermausflügeln und mehrfach geschwungenem Schwanz. Schlangenartige Hälse und weitere Schwanzformen winden sich um die Baumstämme. Der Vordergrund ist durch Wurzelwerk, Felsen und einen Baumstumpf belebt, der Hintergrund öffnet sich zu lichterem Gehölz. Feine Parallelschraffuren und dichte Kreuzlagen modellieren Volumen, Fell, Rinde und Laub. Die Komposition staffelt das Untier hinter den Bäumen, sodass Blick und Bewegung zwischen Vertikale der Stämme und den kurvigen Leibern pendeln.

  • Zustand: Akzeptabler Zustand. Leicht gebräuntes Blatt mit vereinzelten kleinen Flecken und punktuellen Stockspuren, etwas randbestoßen und mit leichten Knitter- bzw. Handhabungsspuren im breiten Rand. Auf dem Blattrand links ganzseitig Knickfalz und kleine Löchlein einer alten Bindung.

  • Description: Within a narrow rectangular border, a dragon-like mythical creature with an open mouth, powerful paws, a scaled body, bat wings and a tail with multiple curves appears in a wooded setting. Snake-like necks and other tail shapes wind around the tree trunks. The foreground is enlivened by roots, rocks and a tree stump, while the background opens up into light woodland. Delicate parallel hatching and dense cross-hatching model the volume, fur, bark and foliage. The composition staggers the beast behind the trees, so that the eye and movement oscillate between the verticals of the trunks and the curved bodies.

  • Condition: Rather good condition. Slightly browned sheet with occasional small stains and foxing in places, somewhat bumped to margins and with slight creasing and handling marks in the wide margins. Crease and small holes from an old binding on the left full-page margin.
