Antique L.B.S. Co. "Superfine" Silverplated Candlesticks – No. 2452 (Pair)

For your consideration is this handsome pair of antique/vintage silverplated candlesticks manufactured by the prestigious Lawrence B. Smith Co. (L·B·S CO.) of Boston, Massachusetts.

Featuring a timeless Neoclassical / Georgian Revival profile, these candlesticks boast elegant tapering trumpet stems, urn-form capitals, and circular domed bases. They are wonderfully accented with traditional gadrooned (rope-twist) borders at the rims, mid-sections, and socket collars.

The undersides are stamped with the crisp, highly legible L·B·S CO. hallmark, the quality designation "SUPERFINE," and the design/model number 2452.

Surface: Standard light surface scratches, polishing marks, and minor scuffing throughout consistent with historical use.

Plating & Core Metal: There is notable silver plating loss localized directly beneath the upper decorative collar of the capitals. This has exposed the copper-alloy/brass base metal core, which has developed a natural green verdigris oxidation/patina.

Pitting: There is fine, dark pitting and spotting present on the upper section of the tapered stems.

Undersides: The flat metal bases are unlined (no felt) and show circular structural brush/cleaning lines. Both maker's stamps remain structurally sound and completely clear.

These candlesticks possess a fantastic historic look. They can be polished further or left exactly as-is to preserve their rich, honest antique patina.
