This listing is for a charming hand crocheted Kosovo Lace Doily. I believe the history of this piece to be: In the war-torn province of Kosovo, in the village of Kacanik, there is a handcrafts business serving 280 crafters, most of whom are widows and low-income mothers. They crochet fine quality lace products, which are then marketed in the United States through churches and individuals. Each crocheted piece bears the name of the woman who made it on a small taped sticker (which can be lifted off). It is asked that you pray for her as you see her name as a reminder. MEXHIDE BERISHA is the name of the maker of this piece. I purchased this piece of Kosovo Lace along with several others from a collector who was in the process of downsizing. A portion of the proceeds of this secondary sale will be gifted to help with the recovery of the area of Kosovo.
As you can see in the photos, the color is a pale almost white ivory. The crochet work is exquisite and the condition is new and perfect. The approximate diameter is 7 1/2-inches. Care instructions are to wash on a gentle cycle, lay flat and iron before completely dry. You can also lightly use starch when pressing in order to best hold the shape, if you wish.
I'm always happy to offer a shipping discount for multiple purchases if you're interested in any of the other items I have listed.
