Offered for your consideration is a pair of vintage AudioSource LS-ONE two-way speakers, manufactured in Japan c.1989. The AudioSource LS-ONE is practically identical to the coveted early Realistic #40-2030 Minimus 7 speakers, aside from its recessed input terminals, and shared the same price point of about $100/pair for several years.
By the mid 1980’s, the exchange rate between the U.S. Dollar and Japanese Yen had narrowed substantially, and the Tandy Corp. moved Minimus 7 production to facilities in Korea, later Malaysia, in order to maintain the same retail price. AudioSource, a much smaller player in the audio industry, continued to source the LS-ONE from the original Japanese manufacturer with the favored components well into the 1990’s, but the price of the speakers had consequently doubled.

The LS-ONE feature the same heavy magnet 4” mid/bass woofers—part #1218—and metal frame 1” dome tweeter—part SD-13 or SD-50—of the first Minimus 7, both made in Japan, while Realistic had moved to cheaper 1218 woofers and SD-60 plastic faceplate tweeters made in those other Asian countries for the later B and C versions of the #40-2030 Minimus 7 (and the silver 40-2034, white 40-2045).

So, please have a look at my large photos and read the remaining description to decide if these stalwart AudioSource LS-ONE speakers should be yours.

This pair of LS-ONE is in clean, excellent shape. There are no dents, dings, or scratches to the black finish of the sturdy metal enclosures, just some scuffs on the bottoms that keep me from calling the condition excellent. Plus, the perforated metal grilles have no dents, dings, or finish flaws, and the emblems are solidly affixed and look great. These AudioSource speakers are quite nicely preserved overall.

Moreover, the 4” woofers have flawless paper cones and voice coil dustcaps and the tweeters have perfect domes. Since I’m sure those grilles have never been off until I took these pictures, the drivers have no blemishes. As an added bonus, I was able to clean away any dust that had settled on the drivers behind the grilles over the decades. Plus, AudioSource evidently specified the use of stainless steel driver mounting screws, which really adds a nice, if not readily visible, touch.

Most importantly, this pair of LS-ONE speakers has been fully tested and sounds outstanding with clear, detailed midrange, crisp 20kHz-rated highs, and strong bass for the platform size. Plus, the recessed +/- spring tab terminals are all in proper working order and hold speaker wire tight.

As pictured and properly described, this capable pair of AudioSource LS-ONE speakers is offered at a competitive price.

I encourage prospective buyers to ask any questions they may have about this pair of AudioSource LS-ONE speakers as there are no cancellations, returns, refunds, or claims considered for this listing.
