This is a carte de visite photograph that is 4¼ x 2½ inches (105x64mm).
It shows a head and shoulders portrait of a young woman in a vignette style. She has her hair parted in the centre and pulled back, wearing small stud earrings. She is dressed in a dark top with a white collar, fastened at the neck with a large oval brooch. The bottom of the mount is printed with 'ROBINSON & SONS' and 'DUBLIN'.
The reverse is printed with 'PHOTOGRAPHIC GALLERIES Established 1853', 'PHOTOGRAPHERS TO THE BRITISH ARMY', and features a royal coat of arms. Below this, it reads 'Robinson & Sons. ARTISTS & PHOTOGRAPHERS POLYTECHNIC MUSEUM 65, Grafton Street DUBLIN'. Additional text at the bottom mentions that negatives are preserved for copies and enlargements, with 'Marion, Imp. Paris.' printed along the lower edge.
