✨ Vintage Ihagee Exakta VX IIa 35mm Camera Body ✨

A classic piece of German optical engineering, ready for restoration or display.

A bit of history : Manufactured in Dresden, Germany, the Ihagee Exakta line is legendary in the history of photography. It was one of the very first true 35mm Single-Lens Reflex (SLR) systems ever produced. Known for its quirky yet brilliant left-handed operation (the wind lever and shutter release are on the left side) and its heavy, tank-like metal construction, the Exakta was a marvel of mid-century innovation.

This listing is for the Camera Body Only (no lens included). It features the highly desirable interchangeable prism viewfinder. Due to its age and mechanical state, this camera is being sold strictly as a restoration project for a camera tinkerer, a source for valuable spare parts, or as a striking industrial display piece for a photography studio.

📸 What the Photos Show (Condition Focus)

  • The classic chrome and black leatherette body styling.
  • The "Ihagee Dresden" embossing and the interchangeable prism.
  • Important Cosmetic Wear: Shows typical vintage use. You will notice paint loss on the black metal trims and surface dust/grime in the mechanical crevices.
  • Important Flaw: Please zoom in on the final photo showing a noticeable ding/dent on the top of the removable prism housing.

Condition Report (Please read carefully)

Sold strictly AS-IS for parts, repair, or display.

  • Missing Parts: No lens or body cap included.
  • Mechanics: ⚠️ The shutter speeds are jammed/sluggish. While the winder successfully advances and the shutter button clicks (and the timer ticks), the internal lubricants have hardened over the decades. It requires a professional CLA (Clean, Lubricate, Adjust) to be used for actual photography.
  • Cosmetics: Has a ding on the top prism. Normal paint loss and patina for a 60+ year old camera. The leatherette appears mostly intact.
