I have for the last 66 years been a Collector of various items that have a limited production. Such as Coinage, Stamps, Cameras, Toys & Pens.

As a trained Precision Engineer Repairing and Refurbishing the Writing Instruments, Cameras and Toys, however due to age and the fact that my health has got the better of me (as you can see from my handwriting) it is time to sell my various collections.

In this instance it is my Ballpoint, Rollerball, Mechanical Pencil & Fountain Pens from years ago, when manufacturing quality and longevity was as important as the unit itself.

Due to many changing factors such as 1st and 2nd World Wars, Closures, Strikes Material Shortages, Pandemics’ and such like. Pen manufacturers often use stock that they have at hand to create a slightly different instrument than their standard run. These are called “variants” and are highly sort after and often not documented.

Manufacturers also have their products made in various parts of the world under licence, in order to either keep costs down or help production, where an instrument is made does not necessarily mean an inferior product in fact some instruments made outside of the manufacturers home country often improves the product.

This pen is an example of a variant as the cap has UK rather than England & III marking is not a date
