​Obverse (Front): Features a modern, stylized representation of the Statue of Liberty with birds flying around her crown. It features the dual dates 1886 and 1986, and is inscribed with RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE.


​Reverse (Back): Displays the famous French national motto: LIBERTÉ, ÉGALITÉ, FRATERNITÉ (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity) stylized to look like a tree or structure, topped with a small Phrygian cap (a French symbol of freedom). The value 100F and the mint year 1986 sit at the bottom.


​Designer Marks: You can see the names of the engravers in tiny text on the reverse side: P. RODIER (Pierre Rodier, the Chief Engraver at the time) on the left, and D. PRAT / J. VEDRENNE on the right.
