This indigo blue and butternut color wool blanket was handwoven by me. I am the maker. The blanket was never used. Some of the photos were taken indoors, and others were taken outside on another day. Material: Natural dyed Indigo blue 100% wool yarn, 100% white wool yarn, and 100% naturally dyed butternut wool yarn. I gathered the butternuts myself and dyed the yarn. Measurement: 108” long; 62” wide. Please measure carefully so the blanket will be the right fit for your needs. Bed Size: Single or Double Bed (standard double bed size is 75” long x 54” wide). Blanket would overhang the bed by about 4” on each side for a double bed and more for a single bed. Length is 108” which would cover a pillow and then hang down the foot of the bed too. Style: Lengthwise Center seam so there are 2 panels. Weaving pattern is a bird’s eye twill very commonly used in 19thC domestic textiles which was done on a 4 harness loom. I studied American 18th and 19th century rural domestic New England hand weaving and spinning for quite a while and owned a large antique C1860 4 harness all wood weaving loom where I recreated domestic handwoven textiles in the same manner as a New England woman would have in the 19th Century. I dyed yarns, including indigo and butternut that I used, in the same manner and technique as a woman would have done it then. I gathered the butternuts myself. I used contemporary commercially spun yarns in my projects. This bird’s eye twill blanket is the result of one of my projects that I am most proud of. I was an experienced weaver and produced beautiful reproduction 19th Century domestic textiles. The blanket was never used and was stored carefully for many years. I am older now and do not have anyone to pass this blanket to. I would like to see it go to a good home, cared for, and cherished. If you have 19th Century Country, Farmhouse or Primitive antiques, this would fit into your decor very nicely, especially if you have ever wanted an antique textile but there were always condition or other issues. This blanket is an antique reproduction as I used an antique birds eye twill pattern for it. |
