I'm pleased to offer this classic Tetrahedrite with Siderite, Chalcopyrite, and Quartz specimen from the Galena mine, Wallace, Shoshone County, Idaho. The specimen measures 4.27 x 2.12 x 1.14 inches or 10.84 x 5.40 x 2.90cm.
The Galena mine is an active silver mine in Idaho's so-called Silver Valley and also produces antimony, copper, and lead. The mine was discovered in 1885 but wasn't put into production until 1922. It is an underground mine whereby lead is the dominant sulfide above the 2000 foot level and tetrahedrite below this point. The silver-rich tetrahedrite is the primary target in this mine owned by Americas Gold and Silver Corporation. They've begun work at the nearby Crescent mine and have arranged to build an antimony plant in Galena. Lots of great news with AGSC!
This piece shows dark and heavy massive tetrahedrite with much tan siderite, a little brilliant golden chalcopyrite, and massive white quartz--a classic assemblage for area ores. This is textbook material and it represents one of my favorite ores---there is something about the heft of these in hand that make them irresistible!
Please check my feedback and my other eBay items. All
specimens are carefully wrapped, come with complete and accurate labels
and are quickly shipped. As always, your complete satisfaction is
unconditionally guaranteed and
I even offer FREE return shipping on any item that fails to satisfy for
any reason---you can't go wrong. I'm reminded of the firm pledge
printed on the old Foote Mineral Company mineral catalogs from more than
a century ago,
"Quality of specimens is assured as we permit return of specimens at our expense."
