1958 Jefferson 500 Clock MCM Space Age Rocket Bullet Chrome Desk Clock WORKS
Up for sale is an iconic piece of Atomic Age design: the Jefferson "500" electric desk clock (Cat. No. 580-221). Designed by the Dave Chapman organization and introduced in 1958, this "rocket" or "bullet" style clock is a staple of Mid-Century Modern decor.
Specifics of this Unit:
Verified First-Year Production: This unit features the internal stamp "9-58," dating it to September 1958—just months after the model's initial release.
Condition: The clock is in original condition. The polished chrome finish shows a natural age-related patina and some minor pitting consistent with its 65+ year history.
Functionality: The clock has been plugged in and tested. It keeps time and the sweep second hand moves smoothly. Like many original Jefferson motors of this era, there is a slight audible hum when running.
Aesthetics: The "Cycolac" plastic base is solid with no cracks. The domed plastic face and internal dial show some age-related clouding/dust, which could be left as-is for a "survivor" look or polished by the new owner.
Manufacturer: Jefferson Electric Co., Bellwood, ILL.
Model: 500 (580-221)Power: 115V AC / 60Hz / 3 Watts
