1974 Marblehead (Yacht Racing Association) Race Week 2nd Place 8 1/2 Inch Wilton Pewter Plate

You are bidding on a great used condition 1974 Marblehead (Racing Association) Race Week 2nd Place 8 1/2 Inch Wilton Pewter Plate.

From the Marblehead Racing Association Web Site- The Marblehead Racing Association (MRA) was established in 1969 by the Boston, Corinthian and Eastern Yacht Clubs to coordinate and foster one-design racing in the Marblehead area. Our goals are to encourage the development of competitive racing skills at all levels in both one-design and PHRF fleets, to promote good sportsmanship both on and off the water, and to ensure the highest levels of competence in race management.

The 8 1/2 inch diameter pewter plate shows just slight signs of use and aging. There is very tiny pock marking along the edge of the outer rim. The plate reads in small bold letters- 1974 MARBLEHEAD RACE WEEK, MERRY MAC CLASS, SECOND. There is a MARBLEHEAD RACING ASSOCIATION 1969 tri-flag (in red, white and blue) circular logo atop the writing. The plate measures 8 1/2 inches across, the bottom bowl part is 5 inches across and there is a 1 1/2 inch beveled rim.

The reverse of the plate has multiple markings of the Wilton Pewter Company, now called Wilton Armetale, of Columbia, PA, USA. The markings include 2 RWP marks and Wilton-Columbia, PA (plus 1 other mark). It also appears to have 117 marked as well.
