Ronald Pennell (b. 1935) is a British artist, sculptor, and master glass engraver best known for his highly detailed engraved glass works and bronze sculptures. Born in Birmingham in 1935, he studied at the Moseley School of Art and later at the Birmingham School of Art, where he trained under engraver Cyril Shiner. In 1957, Pennell received a scholarship to study gem engraving in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, an experience that strongly influenced his artistic style and lifelong connection to Central European glass art traditions.

After returning to England, Pennell taught at Birmingham College of Art, where he met his wife and fellow artist, Betty Pennell. In the 1960s the couple moved to rural Herefordshire and established independent studios. During the 1970s, Ronald Pennell gained international recognition for adapting traditional gem-engraving techniques to large-scale glass vessels. His work often combines mythology, humour, animals, and human figures in richly symbolic scenes. Museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass hold examples of his work.
