ZAR&C: These initials stand for the founding partners: Zeh, Adam, Reichel, and Co. - Zeh Scherser & Co

  • The Crown & Shield: This specific red variant was used roughly between 1880 and 1910; because it does not say "Made in..." it often leans toward the earlier side of that range (pre-1891)

  • The Design: This features a scalloped, "embossed" border rather than full reticulation. However, this has four pierced "scroll" medallions at the top, bottom, and handles provide that open-work look.

    • These are Victorian-style "Spray" Florals, likely wild roses and forget-me-nots. The asymmetry of the spray (where the flowers "trail" across the center) is very characteristic of the Art Nouveau influence from the 1890–1910 period.

    The red backstamp is a crown over a shield with ZAR&C inside and Bavaria at the bottom.
