Mid-Century Studio Pottery Vase Green Glaze Ribbed Scandinavian Style 24cm
A striking mid-century studio pottery vase, hand-thrown and finished in a richly variegated copper-green glaze.
The form is particularly elegant, a rounded, ribbed body rising to a narrow neck and wide flared collar, designed to hold stems in a manner reminiscent of Japanese ikebana arrangements. A band of hand-pierced decoration encircles the shoulder, adding both texture and sculptural interest.
The glaze is beautifully handled, with natural pooling and tonal variation ranging from deep emerald to lighter turquoise highlights. Subtle wear to the rim enhances its character, giving a gentle, time-softened patina consistent with mid-20th century studio work.
Unmarked, but very much in the tradition of British and Scandinavian studio pottery of the 1950s–70s, where form and surface were equally emphasised.
This highly decorative and tactile piece is equally suited to a modern interior or a curated collection of studio ceramics.
