Just Silicone to top of gate fence etc no rust no painting no one can tell diffrence from steel by looking at them but you pocket notices the difference in price as these are a lot better value.

Decorate that plain boring gate top and make it look the part, or those plain wooden gates just use a good silicone sealent like CT1

or strong glue.
