A stunning original book page extracted from the scarce 1856 edition of The Grammar of Ornament, a landmark book that codified the principles of decorative design, using color plates to illustrate patterns from diverse cultures and historical periods (Moorish, Byzantine, Chinese, Indian and more).

This antique plate was originally printed using chromolithography, a 19th-century method for producing multi-color prints that created vibrant, saturated images that closely resemble paintings.

Page size approx. 9x12".
