The Ice Hawk Professional: A Transatlantic Hybrid

Welcome to Old_Time_Hockey. Today we are presenting a powerhouse of late-1970s technical engineering: The Ice Hawk Professional.

The Ice Hawk series was a specialized brand distributed primarily in the United Kingdom during the peak of the British hockey revival. These skates represent a unique "Three-Nation Hybrid" of hockey history: Czechoslovakian boot-making, Canadian industrial steel, and UK market distribution.

The boots utilize a rare, full-leather construction featuring a distinctive Royal Blue hide combination and artisanal brass tacking. These were manufactured in the legendary workshops of Czechoslovakia—the primary producer of high-performance leather skates for European markets during this period. Unlike the hybrid nylon models of the time, this all-leather "Pro" build offered the superior protection and longevity required by top-tier players.

However, the soul of the skate is found in the Canadian-made steel. These holders are not only stamped with the NHL Rules Committee mark of professional quality but also feature the "PRO" designation on the vertical supports. This confirms they were built to withstand the extreme torque and impact of elite power skating, offering a level of structural integrity far beyond standard consumer-grade tubular steel.

This is a museum-quality "Full Set," including the Original Ice Hawk Puck with immaculate silver graphics and a set of red NOPSA Wooden Scabbards. Produced in Finland, NOPSA guards were the gold standard for blade protection before the industry moved toward plastic guards.
