The Mercedes-Benz 710 SSK is among the most revered pre-war racing and sports cars ever built. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche and introduced in the late 1920s, the SSK — Super Sport Kurz, meaning short-wheelbase — was derived from the larger SS model and stripped down for competition use. Its supercharged 7.1-litre inline-six engine, screaming through the Roots-type blower, produced around 710PS at full chat, a staggering figure for the era. Driven by legends such as Rudolf Caracciola, the SSK dominated hillclimbs and road races across Europe, cementing Mercedes-Benz’s reputation as the pre-eminent force in motorsport of the period. In white — the German racing colour of the time — it is an object of rare elegance and aggression in equal measure.
Schuco’s 1:18 resin model captures the SSK’s long bonnet, cycle wings, and period-correct details with the craftsmanship this iconic car deserves. Measuring approximately 25cm in length, it is officially licensed by Mercedes-Benz and presented with a display case and base.
