Nice 4-piece grouping of Associated Press baseball action photos from the early 1950s. All of the shots feature the New York Baseball Giants, including a home plate dispute between the Brooklyn Dodgers Billy Cox, the umpire and various members of the Giants (Whitey Lockman and Hank Thompson),; Giants skipper Leo Duroucher presenting an award to Clint Hartung; Bob Elliott greeted at the plate after hitting a pinch hit homerun; and Rueben Gomez “exchanging heated words” with the Braves Joe Adcock after plunking him with a pitch. All of the photos have the official AP authorization notice stamped on the backs. Three also have a handwritten descriptions of the photo content (spelling error in Bill (sic) Elliott description). The Gomez photo has the actual AP descriptor printed along one edge. Three of the “action” shots measure 7” x 9” and have some ancient tape residue along the edges on the back sides where they were apparently mounted in a scrapbook. The Gomez photo measures 8” x 10”with no tape marks on the back. Great stuff, particularly for New York Giants and mid-century National League fans.
