EARLY ANTIQUE CIRCA 1914-1916 FEDERAL TEL. & TEL. CO. RADIO PARTS LOT & DeFOREST TEL. & TEL. CO. "PAT. APP'D FOR" MARKED RADIO PARTS
Parts generally in very good condition, as shown. All parts removed from one early Lee DeForest battery radio that got damaged in shipment where the front panel shattered. We carefully removed all of the parts, including the screws and period terminal posts, etc.
All parts are from a early Pre-1921 factory assembled DeFOREST TEL. & TEL. CO. radio that dated to between 1914 and 1916.
ALL PARTS IN GOOD CONDITION AS SHOWN. Two of the three adjustable Honeycomb tuner wings are marked FEDERAL as shown, while the other is a aftermarket example was is shown on the label. Two switch assemblies are each marked "FEDERAL TEL. & TEL. CO., BUFFALO NY" and "PAT. APP'D. FOR" as shown while the TWO IVORY COLORED DIALS are marked DeFOREST as show,
The Federal Telephone Company was originally known as the Federal Telegraph Company and was formed in the late 1890s. It played a significant role in the development of radio communications and was involved in the acquisition of the American De Forest Wireless Telegraph Company. The Federal Telephone Company was later acquired by the Mackay Companies and renamed the Mackay Radio and Telegraph Company. In 1926, it was restructured and became part of the International Telephone and Telegraph (ITT), which acquired the Mackay Companies in 1928. The Federal Telephone Company's name was changed to Federal Telegraph and Radio Corporation in 1954, and it continued to operate under the ITT structure until at least the 1950s.
This clearly explains why both DeFOREST and FEDERAL parts were found in the one radio that all of these parts came from.
Wear is consistent with age and use, Please see all photos as they are part of the description. One of the two IVORY colored DEFOREST marked tuner dials has two cracks - i.e. at one at the "80" dial mark and one an inch or so below that - each which have been carefully stabilized with invisible super glue. It is hard to see them unless one looks for the two cracks.
