The Nikkormat EL (1972–1976) is a robust, heavy 35mm manual-focus SLR, notable as Nikon's first camera with an electronically controlled shutter and aperture-priority auto-exposure. It features a Nikon F mount (pre-AI), TTL center-weighted match-needle metering, and a durable metal body. It requires a battery to operate, except for one mechanical speed.
