Lionel, LLC is one of the most iconic names in model railroading, tracing its roots back to 1900 when it was founded in New York City by inventor Joshua Lionel Cowen and his business partner Harry C. Grant.  What began as an electric toy train created to draw attention to retail displays quickly evolved into a beloved American pastime.  Known for their rugged construction, realistic details, and innovative features, Lionel trains became a staple under Christmas trees and in collector displays across the country.  Over the decades, the brand has remained a symbol of imagination, craftsmanship, and nostalgia, with its O gauge track system setting the standard for generations of hobbyists.
Today, Lionel, LLC is led by President and CEO Howard Hitchcock, who joined the company in 2010 and took the helm in 2014.  Under his leadership, Lionel has embraced a balance of tradition and technology, introducing features like the LionChief Bluetooth app, which allows users to operate trains through their smart devices.  With divisions like Lionel Racing and continued dedication to quality and innovation, the company remains a leader in the world of model trains, inspiring both seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts alike.
