STUNNING RARE VINTAGE JAPANESE STERLING SILVER
BONBONNIERE KONPEITO CANDY DISH

We are pleased to offer a rare Japanese sterling silver bonbonniere delicately made in the form of a melon-like vegetable. The complex bonbonniere consists of the wonderful melon shaped design with a small oval mouth that would hold the konpeito or star-shaped candy. The ingenious placement of the stem and tendrils provides a delightful balanced composition. The beautifully detailed leaf is finished with an incised textured surface and stamped silver. The finishing touch is the bird at the top of the vine-like stem of the plant. There is an engraved inscription dated 1961, please see photos.

The bonbonniere box weighs 22 grams. It measures 4 1/8" or 10.5 cm at widest point (base) X 2 3/8" or 6.7 cm tall.

CONDITION: EXCELLENT VINTAGE ANTIQUE CONDITION WITH ONLY MINOR AGE/USE WEAR AND OLD PATINA WITH NO BREAKS, NO DAMAGE AND NO RESTORATION.
