Synopsis: Mob boss Paul Vitti fakes a breakdown to get released from prison into the custody of his reluctant psychiatrist Ben Sobol, who must deal with his volatile and demanding houseguest while Vitti is put to work as a consultant on a mob drama television series — all while the FBI suspects Vitti is using his freedom to plot his return to organised crime.

De Niro remains wonderfully committed to the comedy, bringing the same willingness to puncture his own tough guy image that made the original such a delight, and Crystal is as reliably sharp and quick as ever, the two together generating enough genuine laughs to make the film a thoroughly enjoyable if unessential sequel. A perfectly agreeable and unpretentious comedy that knows exactly what it is and delivers it with professional good humour.
