CONDITION
Overall condition: Good to Very Good
✔ Valves are smooth and tight
✔ Compression is excellent
✔ Slides move properly
✔ Structurally solid instrument
✔ No bell ripple or structural damage
Some reflections visible in the photos are from the lighting in the photo box and may appear to look like distortion in the bell. These are only reflections from the light box environment and not actual damage or warping of the bell. The bell itself is structurally sound.
There are a couple of small, shallow dents in the crook leading into the bell. These are minor and do not affect playability. A qualified brass technician could easily remove them if desired, but they are purely cosmetic.
The spotting visible on the bell is acid bleed in the lacquer (sometimes called lacquer bleed). This is a cosmetic finish issue common on lacquered brass instruments and is not red rot and not structural corrosion.
Cosmetic Summary
• Light lacquer wear throughout
• Minor scratching consistent with age
• Small cosmetic dents in the bell crook
• Acid bleed in the lacquer on the bell
This is an honest, structurally healthy 1990s Elkhart Strad flugelhorn being offered in solid player-grade condition.
