Royal Air Forces Escaping Society
Special Limited Edition Multi-Signed Cover.
Cover signed by 3 Dutch Escape Route Helpers
During the Second World War a large number of RAF and Allied Aircrew who had been shot down were hidden by the Dutch Resistance in the Biesbosch until they could be taken over the River Maas and passed along the Comete Line Escape Route. At Drimmelen on the River Maas there is a monument to the 374 Dutch people who lost their lives during these operations. The Resistance in the Biesbosch were highly organised and, in addition to the general harassment of the Wehrmacht, it operated escape routes which carried Allied aircrew and soldiers across the Lines and passed Special Agents and intelligence to and from the Dutch hinterland.
