Here is a sturdy piece of genuine rib fossil
bone from an Allosaurus fragilis.
Allosaurus was the apex predator of
its time, living in the Jurassic, about 145-155 million years ago. This was
long before the first T Rex (66-70 million years ago). Most Allosaurus skeletons have been found in
Western North America in the Morrison Formation, particularly in Wyoming, Utah,
New Mexico, South Dakota, and Colorado.
Allosaurus means “Different Lizard”
because (at the time it was named) it was unique in having concave indentations
of the sides of its vertebrae. It was a
carnosaurian theropod (meat eater). It
was named in 1877 by Othniel Charles Marsh. Allosaurus is the Jurassic State
Fossil of Utah.
This specimen is from the Morrison
Formation, in western Colorado.
This specimen measures 1.53 inches (39.1 mm) on
our calipers. It is a
single, sturdy piece.
Allosaurus fragilis could grow to 30
feet long (smaller than T Rex but still scary) and was a bipedal predator. Its’
arms were longer than T Rex, each with 3 killer claws (T Rex had 2 claws on
each short arm).
King of the Jurassic, this is a great
addition to any dinosaur collection.

Authenticity). Some words of caution about COA’s: Do not let them
become a substitute for learning about the specimens. We have been working with
fossils and minerals for many years, and we have seen hundreds of very
nice-looking COA’s, some that are wrong, mis-describing a specimen.
A COA should be specific
to one particular specimen, with a photo
of the exact item on it. At Pioneer
Fossils, our fossils and minerals come
with a COA, and each have a photo of the exact
item you just purchased. This assures that the COA can never be
transferred to a different specimen.

buyer will be on your own in event of a loss.

Return
Policy: If you are not satisfied with your item, please
contact us within 72 hours of receiving the item. We'll refund your
purchase price, minus shipping charges, upon safe return of the item to us in
original condition (item cannot be altered or damaged) within 30 days of
buyer’s receipt of item. Failure to contact us within 72 hours of receipt of
item, voids this offer. Buyer is responsible for all return shipping
