This is best purchased as a replacement to an existing unit of the same model number, and or an upgrade to any chain opener that is also of a Yellow Circle Learn Button. 
Upgrading an Opener with any other color learn button may also require you to purchase new remotes, keypads, and wall control as they may no longer be compatible.
