Uber rare graphic two-sided flyer soliciting attendees, dealers, advertisers and participants to the 1974 International Star Trek Convention to be held February 15-18 at the American Hotel (NYC).
January 1972 saw the first inception of the Star Trek Convention dubbed “Star Trek Lives!”. Among the guests were science-fiction legend Isaac Asimov, and Gene Roddenberry, the screenwriter and producer who created the Star Trek television series and his wife Majel Barrett who played Number One in the pilot episode “The Cage,” and who went on to play Nurse Christine Chapel and supply the voice of the Enterprise’s computer in the series. 3000 attendees attended the event.
Guests listed on the back side of the flyer to attend the 1974 event include: DeForest Kelley (Dr. McCoy), Nichelle Nichols (Uhura), Walter Koenig (Ensign Chekov), George Takei (Hikaru Sulu), Dr. Isaac Asimov, science-fiction writer Hal Clement and the Andromeda Light Show. As took place at the first convention, the flyer also teased this year’s art show to award a prize for the best miniature Klingon ship.
A must have for any Star Trek fan, or collector of historic science-fiction, television artifacts.
