A highly decorative pair of antique English pottery pitchers, unmarked but with the pattern number 699 to the base. Polychrome hand-painted, raised floral and ivy motif, the painting worn in places commensurate with age.

Staffordshire in origin, dating to the late 19th c.

This pair of pitchers  have been in our personal collection for 35 or so years, having been purchased on Richmond Hill back in the days it was awash with general antique dealers.

There is a visible rim running the length of the body starting at the spout, suggesting the body was pressed in two pieces before being joined. The raise motifs have been hand-painted, though there is slight rubbing in places commensurate with their age. Otherwise no obvious nicks or chips.

The smaller pitcher has had the handle off at some point in the distant past, and re-attached with metal pins. IMAGE 8. For this reason this listing is for the larger pitcher, with the matching smaller pitcher being included for free.

Please look carefully at the images as they form part of the description.
