Palmer once had an extensive body of work, most of which he held in his Mills Valley studio. When he died in the middle of the AIDS plague years, his horrified mother destroyed everything. Because of this, his work is now very rare. 1986

We have 18 of these prints left. We originally had 40. They were part of a portfolio I bought some years back which included original work, sketches, some single prints, and a package of old new stock still in the original lithographers paper: these portraits of Patrick Toner. We will be selling them one at a time as auctions. When they are gone, they are gone. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a classic piece by a rare artist at an excellent price. Patrick Toner was International Mr Leather #7 in 1985. He was also one of the founders of the Up Your Alley Fair in San Francisco, sometimes called Dore Alley Fair. Toner passed in 1993.

Leather historian Dr. Gayle Rubin says of Toner:

“In contrast to the Folsom Street Fair, which eventually became a leather event, Up Your Alley was a gay and leather event from the start. The first Up Your Alley fair was held on August 25, 1985 on Ringold Alley. The fair was the brainchild of Patrick Toner, who was that year's International Mr. Leather, and Jerry Vallaire. The first Up Your Alley was focused primarily on AIDS and was structured entirely as a fundraising party. It was billed as a 'block party and tea dance' and as a carnival to raise money for three charities: the San Francisco AIDS Fund, the Gay Games II, and Community United Against Violence."
