Description:
Offered for sale is a 1962 Austria 25 Schilling silver coin honoring composer Anton Bruckner, one of Austria’s most important figures in classical music history. This vintage Austrian silver coin was issued by the Austrian Mint as part of Austria’s post-war commemorative program celebrating cultural and artistic achievements.
This coin comes from my grandfather’s collection; he was an antique dealer in Austria and carefully preserved these coins for decades. The coin is struck in 0.800 silver, weighs approximately 13 grams, has a diameter of about 30 mm, and contains an actual silver weight of roughly 0.334 troy ounces. The edge is lettered, and the design was created by Austrian sculptor and engraver Edwin Grienauer.
Issued during the early 1960s, this coin reflects Austria’s effort to honor its musical heritage through high-quality commemorative silver coinage, making it appealing to both numismatists and classical music enthusiasts.
Why it matters:
The Anton Bruckner 25 Schilling is part of Austria’s highly collected silver commemorative series and is sought after for its musical theme, mid-20th-century design, and Austrian Mint craftsmanship.
Stored in a protective sleeve in a temperature-controlled environment. Never cleaned or polished, preserving its original vintage surface.
