Description:
This fully restored misty turquoise 1970 Monte Carlo convertible is an absolute gem. It is equipped with rare factory features like: fiber optics, G67 load level control air shock compressor, U46 lamp monitoring system, U14 tachometer and gauges, shoulder strap seat belts, power trunk pop, power windows, power locks, etc. Obviously the very best option is the power convertible top. The prior owner informed me the convertible conversion was properly done. A 1970 Chevelle convertible was used as the donor car. The frame is boxed in like a convertible should be. The rear seats were professionally reupholstered to retain the original Monte Carlo seat pattern. This car was also said to be a Chevrolet prototype by a couple car enthusiasts I spoke with. Therefore I am uncertain on the true story of this car. However, one thing is for sure. No corners were cut when this car was done. It’s the car that GM almost made for production. They were so close to making it that some of the original documentation show the convertible option. The convertible feature is listed in the owner’s manual, displayed in the custom feature accessories pamphlet, and shown in the 1970 Monte Carlo advertisement brochure as well. Here is an opportunity for those that were looking forward to buy the 1970 Monte Carlo convertible new. This is an example of what you would have got. It’s also a chance to own something very rare. This turn key beauty is numbers matching. It appraised for $65,000 in 2012 with 52,151 miles. Now the car has just under 55,500 original miles. The brand new factory style dual white stripe tires were just put on in January 2025. The car has been driven less than 50 miles since getting the new rubber. This is truly a 1 of 1.
