Important: This Is a Relearn Tool Only
The EL-50448 is designed only for performing TPMS sensor relearn procedures on compatible GM vehicles.
- It does NOT program new sensors.
- It cannot activate "empty" or unprogrammed sensors.
- If you install a new replacement sensor, it must first be programmed using a separate TPMS programming tool. Only then can the EL-50448 be used to relearn its position.
Compatible With For GM Vehicles (315 MHz or 433 MHz TPMS)
A TPMS sensor relearn procedure is required after:
- Tire rotation
- Tire pressure sensor replacement
- Replacement of the remote control door lock receiver module
- Tire/wheel service that disturbs sensor positions
How to Use the EL-50448 TPMS Relearn Tool
Step 1 – Enter Relearn Mode
- Set gearshift to “P” (Park)
- Turn ignition to “ON” (do not start engine)
- Navigate to the tire pressure display via the Driver Information Center (DIC)
- When “Press Set / Ctrl to re-learn” appears, press the “Set / Ctrl” button
- The turn signals will flash for 3 seconds and the horn will beep twice — relearn mode is now active
Step 2 – Activate Sensors in Sequence
- Start with the front-left tire
- Place the EL-50448 antenna against the valve stem, close to the wheel rim
- Press the tool’s activation button
- When the horn beeps once, the sensor ID has been successfully read
Step 3 – Complete Remaining Wheels
- Repeat the same process in this order: front-right → rear-right → rear-left
- After the fourth sensor is learned, the turn signals will flash for 3 seconds and the horn will beep twice — relearn complete
When Do You Need This Tool?
Use the EL-50448 when:
- You’ve installed pre-programmed replacement sensors but the vehicle won’t recognize them
- You’ve performed a tire rotation and need the BCM to update sensor positions
- You’ve repaired a leak, replaced a tire, or serviced the TPMS system
- The TPMS warning light remains on after correcting tire pressure or completing maintenance
Note: For GM models from 2012 and newer, the Body Control Module (BCM) stores unique sensor IDs for each wheel position. The relearn procedure is necessary to map sensor IDs to their physical locations so the TPMS functions correctly.
