The 1923-24 University of Michigan Athletic Association Student Coupon Book is a vintage collectible item from the early 1920s. This coupon book contains numbered tickets or coupons to various athletic events hosted by the University of Michigan during that year, providing a unique glimpse into the sports history of the university. As a piece of vintage sports memorabilia, this item holds historical significance and nostalgia for fans of the university or sports enthusiasts looking to add a piece of history to their collection. Coupons were numbered up to 36 in this particular booklet and several coupons are missing so the owner must have attended those athletic events. All were apparently at Ferry Field or Yost Fieldhouse according to front cover signed mechanically by athletic director Fielding Yost himself! This booklet belonged to Henry Scott Maentz, a name familiar to Michigan football fans as he was to become father of Tom Maentz, M athlete who starred in football as part of the “touchdown twins” with other end Ron Kramer in mid fifties, enjoying the honor of becoming the first M players to grace the cover of a Sports Illustrated magazine. Henry was also president of the First National Bank of Holland where the Maentz kids were raised. Great history for this little book. Spine intact and several coupons remain. Student book #2842, good for all athletic contests between 10-1-1923 and 6-9-1924.
