This is an attractive solid silver vesta case made during the reign of King George V. Rectangular in form, it has an attractive ribbed design throughout. Free from inscriptions, it feels tactile to hold and is made from a good gauge of silver. A super vesta case made by the respected silversmith, T Heatley.
Condition is excellent. There are no splits or repairs, just the usual surface scratches and marks commensurate with a piece of silver which is 113 years old.The hinge is strong, has a snap shut closing action and the lid has a nice tight fit when closed. The strike plate functions as it should. There are a couple of minor knocks on the case but they are insignificant in my opinion and do not detract from the overall appeal. This is a highly desirable vesta case which would compliment any collection. My photographs confirm condition, however further images are available if required.
Hallmarks are crisp and show Birmingham 1912, the maker being T. Heatley. Established in 1899, the business operated from premises in Birmingham. As manufacturing silversmiths, they produced a small range of products through to 1920.The quality of their work is reflected in this super vesta case.
The case measures 4.5cm x 3.5cm and weighs 21g.
Many thanks for looking and good luck with your bidding. I will be listing more silver items from my private collection over the coming weeks and hopefully there will be something of interest to you.
