This is an authentic piece of mid-century American menswear: a classic two-button sport coat tailored by Haspel, the famous New Orleans-based manufacturer known for pioneering wash-and-wear summer clothing. The coat is definitively dated to the 1950s (between 1949 and 1962) based on the "COPYRIGHT 1949" Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America union label sewn inside. It was originally retailed by the fine men's clothier Carlton's in Washington, D.C.
The fabric is a lightweight seersucker or pincord, featuring a fine green-grey stripe on a pale background, perfect for warm-weather wear. The style is classic 1950s Ivy League, featuring a natural shoulder, two-button closure, and practical patch pockets. The jacket is partially lined in white and is ready for someone who appreciates quality vintage tailoring and a classic, relaxed look. Please refer to the photos of measurements for the size.
Please examine the photos carefully, read the specifications and ask questions before the purchase. The item was pre-owned but it is in great condition. However, it does show somewhere since it's more than half a century old. Please know there are no tears and no stains. Please know that no returns are accepted. Thank you.
