John Pedder R.I. (1850–1929) was a British landscape painter born in Liverpool. He attended the Liverpool School of Art and the Liverpool Academy of Arts, later offering tuition there. After a brief period working in a shipping office, he pursued painting professionally. In 1883, he married Lydia Eastwood and moved to London, eventually settling in Maidenhead, Berkshire, where he established his studio. He was a friend of artist George Clausen, whose plein-air (outdoor) rural naturalist style influenced his own work. Pedder became a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours  in 1898(RI) and the Liverpool Society of Painters in Watercolours, exhibiting widely at venues like the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery. His works are held in several UK public collections, including the Walker Art Gallery (Liverpool), the Williamson Art Gallery (Birkenhead), Torre Abbey Museum (Torquay), Wycombe Museum, and the Lytham St Annes Art Collection.

Signature: Signed lower left

Condition: Reasonable/used condition with age toning, a handful of faint foxing spots and other surface marks / blemishes / graphite smudges. other toning marks to the margins, so the first image illustrates how much of the painting to display within a cut mount.

Framing: Unframed
