Seraphim are a class of high-ranking angels described in the Bible as six-winged beings who continually worship God in His heavenly throne room, using two wings to cover their faces, two to cover their feet, and two for flying. In the Book of Isaiah, a seraph purifies the prophet's lips with a burning coal, signifying their role in atonement and purification. The name "seraphim" translates to "fiery ones," and they are associated with fire and intense light.

Characteristics and role

Six wings: They have six wings, which they use for flying, covering their faces, and covering their feet in God's presence.

Worship: Their primary function is to worship God, singing "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty".

Purification: In Isaiah's vision, a seraph purifies his lips with a burning coal to atone for his sin.

"Fiery ones": The name "seraphim" is a Hebrew plural that means "burning ones," suggesting a connection to fire, light, and intense heat.
