Charles (Nicolas) Oudinot, born April 25, 1767 in Bar-le-Duc and died September 13, 1847 in Paris, former non-commissioned officer of the Médois who became the head of volunteers of the Meuse in 1792, passed by brigade (1794) after his defense in Kaiserslautern, then general of division (1799); Brilliant at the head of a grenadiers division (1805-1807), he was injured on multiple times. Created Maréchal after Wagram (1809) and Duke of Reggio (1810), administrator in Holland (1809-1812), he fights in Russia then, in 1813, failed before Berlin (Grosbeeren) and was replaced by Ney. Rallied to the Bourbons in 1814, faithful during the Hundred Days, he resumed service under the July monarchy (Spanish expedition, 1823) and finished governor of the Invalides (1842-1847), figure of the tenacious, disciplined and administrative soldier of the Empire.
