Description:
Pair of Japanese Shishi (Lion Dog) guardian figures, traditionally used as protective symbols in Japanese culture. Finished in a rich reddish-brown glaze with dark charcoal/black detailing. Each figure features an expressive face, curled mane, stylized tail, and strong stance typical of Shishi dog forms.
Hollow ceramic construction with vent holes on the underside, consistent with kiln-fired ceramic figures. Unmarked.
Likely mid-to-late 20th century Japanese decorative export pieces.
Ideal for shelf display, home décor, meditation space, or as symbolic guardian figures.
