Item Description
For sale is a stunning vintage Pioneer PL-15R Stereo Turntable.
This is a classic Japanese-made belt-drive unit from the golden era of
Hi-Fi (1970s). It features the desirable S-shaped tonearm and a
semi-automatic mechanism (auto-return), offering the convenience of the
arm returning to the rest at the end of the record while maintaining the
sonic purity of a manual table.
Condition Report:
Visuals: This unit is in excellent cosmetic condition. The walnut-grain wood base is sharp with no major peeling or chips. The top deck (brushed metal and black composite) is clean.
Dust Cover: The smoke-tinted dust cover is superb—very rare for this age. It is clear with the original Pioneer logo intact, and the hinges are strong, holding the cover open exactly as they should.
Operation: Tested and working. The motor operates quietly, and the belt drive provides the correct speed. The arm transport and cueing lever (Up/Down) function smoothly. It produces a balanced sound on both Left and Right channels.
Accessories: Comes with the headshell and cartridge/stylus shown (tested working), original rubber mat, 4 support feet, attached RCA cables, ground wire, and original power cord.
Style, Maker, & Era:
Maker: Pioneer Electronic Corp (Made in Japan).
Era: Mid-1970s (approx. 1974-1976).
Style: Mid-Century Modern Hi-Fi. It features a handsome contrast between the warm walnut vinyl veneer, the cool smoked acrylic lid, and the industrial brushed aluminum controls.
Usage: Home Stereo Component (Requires a Phono input on your amplifier).

Here is a breakdown of what is seen in your specific images to confirm the condition to buyers:
The Dust Cover: Unlike many units where the hinge points break, your photos show the rear hinges (metal reinforced style) are fully intact and holding the weight of the acrylic cover perfectly. The "Pioneer" badge on top is crisp.
The Plinth (Base): The wood-grain finish is consistent. The corners look sharp in the photos, indicating it wasn't banged around in storage.
The Control Panel: The "Pioneer" logo badge on the front wood panel is present. The speed selector switch (33/45) and the Cueing lever (Up/Down) on the right side appear clean and free of oxidation.
The Tonearm: The chrome plating on the S-arm is bright. The anti-skate weight mechanism is present. The headshell is the perforated silver style, which matches the vintage aesthetic perfectly.
Rear Connections: The RCA cables and ground wire appear to be the original stock cables, which are generally high quality on these units. The rear ID plate confirms the Model PL-15R and Japanese origin.
