EBAY RECORD GRADING RULES BELOW:
  • NM (Near Mint): Nearly Like new..
  • EXC/VG++: A record that has a few visual imperfections that will not affect the sound. Likely played only a handful of times or never at all.
  • VG+: A few more surface marks than a VG++. The record has probably been played before but well taken care of and should play with very few audible imperfections.
  • VG: The record will display light surface scuffs and marks. Expect some light surface noise in parts or a few clicks or pops here and there. A VG record will play with very minimal noise and will still be quite enjoyable. We think our VG grade is conservative.
  • VG-: The record may have some deeper audible scratches. There will be some clicks and pops more consistently than that of a VG record but will play without skipping.
  • G: The record will have heavy wear, deep scratches and very apparent surface noise, clicks or pops.
  • Poor: Records with this grade should be considered unplayable.
    • Cover grades:

    Although no description is given for cover grades, a bidder should be aware that a cover that is graded NM will be like new and with no apparent wear or defects and a cover that is graded Poor will be a wreck that is still desirable based on scarcity, historical importance or other market demand. All grades between these two extremes will be logically applied to the item on

    I personally play test all records and grade them as a certified record grader when I worked at Goldmine Magazine, the leading record grading magazine. I do not sell any records that are brand new pressed and made this current year we are in right now.  The buyer of this item understands they are buying record(s) and (sleeves if applicable) that are decade(s) old and the buyer is instructed as well in the listing to view photos for condition of the album cover, sleeve and record(s) decades old album covers are not expected to look like brand new sealed unopened album covers made this current year as an example, We do not grade anything as a New Mint Sealed Record, all our items are sold as used even if unopened sealed and never played as they are older records and with time may not sound the same as the same record repressed this current year on brand new record pressing equipment with brand new vinyl though of course records are durable.  The grading rules are a couple paragraphs above this paragraph in this listing so please do not buy if you want a new record pressed this current year which we do not sell,  as vintage records - as buyers know- have on the run in of the record - you can hear a little needle chatter on some older records due to the needle of the stylus which still vibrates in the record groove. These vibrations cause very faint vibrations in the air (in other words, 'sound'), so the sound of the needle is not very loud. As experienced record buyers know the sound that you are hearing is the stylus in the groove vibrating back and forth when there is not a loud band or instruments playing between or during a song or for example during the run in of the record which has no grooves as well. If a buyer has dusty records in need of cleaning or buyer's record player stylus cartridge or needle is old, damaged, or the record player is not properly balanced you can cause damage to a record by the needle not being in great shape and perpendicular to the record it is playing and this will cause static, noise, skips, interruptions, or if not balanced properly, even a needle making a deep mark in record and getting stuck so make sure you take care of your equipment and replace parts with new parts when required and balance record player yearly, This item is sold as is, with no applicable returns except those that qualify per the ebay guarantee of course which we do accept.
