This is a wooden box style  stereo-viewer which holds 36 stereo -views which can be scrolled through one at a time with a knob on the side of the box. There is also a focusing lever which brings the viewed  card closer to or further from the eye lenses. Inside is a fabric & metal mechanism which carries the cards. It is in very good working condition. The case wood which I think is a rosewood veneered box with mahogany trim has some staining. It is structurally very solid.I have had this viewer for about 25 years.
Illumination is provided from external illumination, electric or natural light. Both hinged top lid doors are silvered on the inside and are to be adjusted to best reflect the available light source onto the viewed card. There is also a frosted glass at the backside of the box to illuminate pin-hole style stereo-cards. The box is fully loaded with 36 cards amongst them are 2 antique French pinhole cards.  'Normal' size stereo view cards need to be trimmed about 1/8" on each side to fit. The right side wooden eyepiece holder has a chip in its edge.
The build plate on the machine has early patent dates listed. Somewhere inside when I first got and cleaned up the machine is a 1904 build date stamped onto the wooden inside. The New York makers name is Alex Beckers.
Weight is approximately 12 pounds and dimensions are approx. 19" x 11" x 12"
