Description:
From the estate of my grandfather, an antique dealer in Austria, this is an original 1957 Austria 25 Schilling silver commemorative coin issued for the 800 year celebration of the Mariazell Basilica (1157-1957). The design was created by Austrian engraver Edwin Grienauer and the piece was struck by the Austrian Mint (Münze Österreich). Specifications: weight 13.00 g; diameter 30 mm; composition .800 fine silver (80% silver / 20% copper); actual silver weight ~0.3344 troy oz; edge: lettered “FUENFUNDZWANZIG SCHILLING”; mintage approximately 4,999,000 pieces.
