Offered here is an authentic 1957 Austrian 25 Schilling silver commemorative coin celebrating the 800th anniversary of Mariazell Basilica (1157–1957), Austria’s most famous pilgrimage church. This coin comes from my grandfather’s collection — he was an antique dealer in Austria — providing genuine provenance and historical authenticity.
Designed by Sculptor Josef Grienauer, the obverse shows the majestic Mariazell Basilica with its distinctive twin towers and central spire. The reverse features the Austrian coat of arms shields surrounding the denomination “25 Schilling,” symbolizing Austria’s federal states and national unity during the post-war era.
